Woodleigh Chase Career Expo Invites Team Members to Explore Opportunities and Plan Their Future

January 19, 2025

It has been seventeen years since Nahid Young began her career with Erickson Senior Living. But the honeymoon phase is far from over as Nahid prepares to take on a new role as the Sales Manager at Woodleigh Chase, the new Erickson Senior Living community in Fairfax, Va.

“I’ve held a number of different positions at Erickson over the years,” says Young. “When Woodleigh Chase was announced in 2022, I joined the sales team and quickly realized it was the perfect fit for me.”

The sky’s the limit

Young is one of 16,000-plus Erickson Senior Living team members across the country who enjoy a fun and meaningful career with opportunities and support to advance and achieve their goals.

As one of the five largest senior living providers in the United States, Erickson believes career growth opportunities are essential to keep team members engaged and happy. To that end, each community hosts a Career Expo. At these events, team members can learn about exciting ways to advance their careers within the Erickson organization.

“Our goal is to provide our talented and diverse team members with a meaningful work experience that matches their interests and goals,” said Nicole Walker, Chief Human Resources Officer for Erickson Senior Living. “This is why we created the 2024 Internal Career Expo Series across the enterprise. As a growth company with a bright future, we strive to be an employer ofchoice by providing our team members with the resources to cultivate the career they personally desire at Erickson Senior Living.”

Through training and professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and benefits such as reimbursement for higher education, trade schools, and certifications, Woodleigh Chase provides team members with the tools to advance in roles throughout the company.

Server to sales manager

The Career Expo provided a one-stop shop for learning about these resources and connecting with leaders and peers who have built careers for life with Erickson. Young was invited to share her journey at the Woodleigh Chase Career Expo.

“I created a career path map to show where I started and what I did along the way in order to reach my goals and end up where I am today,” says Young.

Like many Woodleigh Chase team members, Young’s career began at Greenspring, an Erickson Senior Living community in nearby Springfield, Virginia.

“I started out as a server in the dining department and went on to become a hostess, server trainer, staff development assistant, administrative assistant, and eventually an assistant general manager,” says Young.

Young’s career wasn’t limited to dining. She also managed Greenspring’s three on-site convenience stores, served as communications manager, and worked in the Resident Life department.

After two years as a Woodleigh Chase sales associate, Young expressed interest in a sales manager position. She worked with the talent development manager to design a growth plan to prepare for her new role.

“One of the things I love about Erickson, is that there are so many opportunities for you to explore your interests until you find what you love. And the management is there every step of the way, supporting you throughout your career,” says Nahid.

Opportunities abound

Woodleigh Chase’s friendly, supportive atmosphere is built on a foundation of meaningful relationships between residents and co-workers. In her new role as sales manager, Young is excited to continue helping retirees discover the home of their dreams and live the fullest life possible.

“It’s fun to be part of the culture that is forming here and seeing residents thrive,” says Young. “I truly feel like I am making a difference in people’s lives.”
