Attend a Career Expo at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living community in Peabody, Mass., and you’ll discover exciting opportunities to launch or grow a career at Brooksby, or at any of Erickson’s extraordinary communities!

Kate Stanasek, Resident Services Coordinator at Brooksby, enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experience at Brooksby’s 2024 Career Expo with those interested in possibilities for career advancement, development, and available career paths.

Kate started her Erickson career with a 2010 internship at Brooksby during her senior year at nearby Endicott College.

“I worked in the Intermissions Program, supporting residents with memory loss,” Kate says. “I completely fell in love with the work. It helped me realize that at Brooksby I could really make a difference!”

As Erickson Senior Living continues expanding and enhancing offerings to residents, retaining top talent like Kate is critical. Cultivating opportunities for talented team members to grow and develop fulfilling careers is key.

Kate appreciates Erickson’s care and nurturing of employees and their career goals, with its focus on culture and core promises to team members for financial stability, a vibrant work experience, and a commitment to health and well-being. Brooksby’s friendly, supportive atmosphere is built on a foundation of meaningful relationships between residents and co-workers.

After college, Kate worked as Communications Specialist on the front desk of Brooksby’s busy Town Center—getting to know the community.

“I wanted an opportunity to figure out exactly where I was going. I wanted to work at Brooksby, but I didn't know in which department,” Kate recalls. “It was great for getting to know people, the departments and how they operated. It was a busy job!”

Through training and professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and benefits such as reimbursement for higher education, trade schools, and certifications, Erickson and its communities nationwide provide 16,000 team members like Kate with the tools to advance in roles throughout the enterprise. Career Expos provided a one-stop shop to learn about available resources and connect with leaders and peers like Kate who have built “careers for life” with ESL.

Nicole Walker, Chief Human Resources Officer for Erickson Senior Living, says Erickson’s goal “is to provide talented and diverse team members with meaningful work experiences that match their interests and goals. This is why we created the 2024 Internal Career Expo Series. As a growth company with a bright future, we strive to be an employer of choice by providing team members with the resources to cultivate the career they desire.”

For Kate, that meant enjoying two years as activities assistant in memory care, absorbing invaluable experience that helped her next as community resources coordinator, with the Resident Life team in Brooksby’s independent living.

“That involved coordinating and logistics for all staff and resident activities and events,” Kate says. “We were busy! But I met a slew of residents. That was a great pathway to working in community resources.”

Kate kept cultivating her career and in 2023 got married and became Resident Services Coordinator, which she sought for its close engagement with Brooksby residents.

“I make sure they have the services and support they need, getting to know them in a more personal way,” Kate says. “Because I've worked in different departments, when someone calls with a question, I usually know the answer or which direction to send them!”

“I love helping residents live that stress-free retirement life they deserve.” Kate adds.

With her deep experience, Kate engaged others at the Career Expo, explaining career opportunities within the organization.

“When approached with questions, I explained what my jobs were like, and what brought me to my current position,” Kate says. “It’s important employees know they aren't limited to one position. I certainly moved around!”

“Erickson does a great job of encouraging employees to look at options and have open conversations,” she adds. “When you're spending most of your day in a particular place, you want it to be a friendly one, and Brooksby’s culture is inviting and friendly!”
