"Devonshire is vibrant and beautiful. We love living here," says Arlyn Bamberger, who moved to the Erickson Senior Living community at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with her husband David last January.

"The outdoor pool offers a wide range of exercise classes, including water aerobics and poolside Pilates," says Hobbs. "It is a popular gathering spot for meeting friends, holding club meetings, and hosting communitywide entertainment."

Previous poolside entertainment has included a Super Bowl tailgate with a picnic-style dinner, a Valentine's Day orchestra performance, and a pet costume contest.

"It's really a wonderful benefit of living here," says Hobbs. "PGA National also hosts the Cognizant Classic, a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in the late winter. It's a very popular event, especially for our community members who enjoy golf. We have buses that take residents back and forth to the tournament."

"Devonshire's outdoor amenities and events absolutely played a part in my decision-making process," says Marilyn Canis, who moved to Devonshire from the BallenIsles in February 2022. "As an avid golfer, it would have been very difficult for me to leave my former community and its three fabulous golf courses, if not for the fact that access to the five PGA National golf courses is part of living at Devonshire."

Arlyn and David, who also moved to Devonshire from the BallenIsles, feel the same way. 

"We were particularly excited about Devonshire--versus the other local properties we looked at--because we could still play golf at PGA National," says David. 

And for those who enjoy racquet sports, the PGA National Sports and Racquet Club boasts 19 competition-level tennis courts and two new pickleball courts, bringing the resort's total to six.

Devonshire community members can also sign up for the variety of outdoor trips that Hobbs and her team plan. 

"Some of our most recent outdoor adventures have been trips to the Lion Country Safari, Mounts Botanical Garden, Yesteryear Village, Vero Beach, and the McKee Botanical Garden," says Hobbs. "One of the great things about living in Florida is that our community members are able to enjoy the outdoors even in the winter. During the holidays, we organized a trip to enjoy dinner and a yacht cruise down the intercoastal to see the Christmas lights."
